Overview

Spellbook connects directly to your library of legal documents stored in Google Drive so you can put them to work. Once linked, you can search the contracts you have in Google Drive to help you answer questions, surface relevant language, draft clauses, and run comparisons grounded in your agreements. No more uploading files. No more copy and pasting.

How to Integrate Spellbook with Google Drive

Connecting Google Drive takes just a few clicks and immediately makes your legal document library available to Spellbook. Here's how it works:

Connect your contract library in Google Drive

Open Spellbook's Settings → Library → Connect to Google Drive. Sign in with the same email associated with your Spellbook account, click "Allow" to grant Spellbook access, and close the confirmation window. Then click “Connect to Google Drive" once more to open your file picker and select the folders you want to import. Spellbook will automatically create a folder in your Library. 

Please note: Import progress is tracked in the app so you'll know exactly when your files are ready to use.

Once they're connected, your contracts in Google Drive are available as context for the following:

  • Ask: Tap into your contract history and cite answers directly from your agreements
  • Draft: Pull clauses from your Google Drive library when you're drafting an agreement
  • Review: Reference your precedents when flagging risks and suggesting redlines on your contracts
  • Clause Library: Analyze your contracts and organize reusable language that you can search for and insert at any time

Import specific files or folders

You can choose which files to import from Google Drive rather than connecting your full library. From the Library screen, click New Folder → Connect to Google Drive and select the specific files or folders you want available. You can organize your library by deal type, client, or agreement category. 

Please note: Folders can also be shared with your team so everyone in your organization can access the same library.

Keep your library up to date

Spellbook automatically syncs changes from your connected folders in Google Drive every 15 minutes, so your library is always up to date as new contracts are added. If you want to update in real-time, you can trigger a manual sync directly from the app.

No, once you connect Google Drive, Spellbook imports the files you selected automatically. You can re-import folders at any time to bring in new contracts as your library grows.

Does the email I use to sign into Google Drive need to match the email I use for my Spellbook account? 

Yes, you have to sign into Google Drive using the same email that's associated with your Spellbook account for the integration to work. If your emails are different, you can still upload files manually from your computer via the Library.

What file types does Spellbook support from Google Drive?

Spellbook supports DOCX, PDF (including scanned documents via OCR), and TXT files.

Will my contract data be completely secure?
