Spellbook connects directly to iManage so your legal team’s documents are ready to work the moment you need them. Select the files you need, ask your question, and get answers grounded in agreements your organization has actually negotiated, with citations back to the source.

How to Integrate Spellbook with iManage

Connecting iManage takes just a few clicks and immediately makes your legal team's document library available inside Spellbook. Here's how it works:

Connect your iManage account

Navigate to "Add from iManage" in Ask or an Associate Project and proceed through the authentication steps to connect your account. This only needs to be done once, regardless of whether you do it from Word or Associate.

Add files from iManage

Once connected, you can add iManage files in three places:

• Ask in Word: click the attachments icon and select "Import from iManage." Selected documents are added to your chat context and can be referenced like any other file.
• Ask in Associate: click the attachments icon and select "Add from iManage." Selected documents are added to your chat context and the project.
• Associate Projects: click the Files icon next to the Files list and select "Add from iManage." Selected documents are added to the project and can be referenced across review, Q&A, and analysis workflows.

What you can do with Spellbook and iManage

Once the integration is connected, here are a few ways you can use it:

1. Get answers from your team's document history: Select the relevant iManage files, ask your question in Ask, and get answers with citations pulled directly from your own contracts. No hunting through folders, no downloading files.
2. Review incoming paper against your own standards: Attach your iManage precedents as reference files in Ask or an Associate Project and ask Spellbook to highlight deviations from your standard positions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to upload documents manually after connecting iManage? 

No. Once you connect iManage and select your files, they're available immediately inside Spellbook. You can add more files at any time.

Do I need to connect iManage separately in Word and Associate? 

No. Authentication only needs to be done once. Once connected, iManage is available across both Word and Associate.

Will my existing iManage permissions carry over? 

Yes. All iManage file access inside Spellbook is governed by your existing iManage permissions and ethical walls. Nothing is exposed to users who shouldn't have access to it.

Will my contract data be completely secure? 

Yes. Spellbook is SOC 2 Type II certified, HIPAA compliant, and uses zero data retention with its LLM providers, meaning your contracts are never used to train AI models.
